A hat-trick of titles for Markwell, and Lund Regan's life long dream accomplished.

37 organisations from 21 countries descended on K2 Crawley, as the British Karate Kyokushinkai hosted the 38th British Open, with one of the toughest line-up in years.

All the more remarkable then that Emma Markwell (BKK Westcroft) on a hot winning streak managed to capture her fourth, and third-in-a-row British title on home soil whilst also securing the fastest KO in 22 seconds.

More home British fighter success as the campaign's poster boy, Leon Lund Regan (BKK Ynysowen) accomplishes his childhood dream at the 8th time of asking by beating world class Russians and Spanish opponents to take the title.

Other home-based fighters, Dawid Ozga and Darren Chan, claimed third places in lightweight and middleweight categories respectively.  Teams from Russia and Spain took the remaining titles making this one of the most exciting and open of Opens for some years.

There was also a Novice section allowing young and new fighters to experience knockdown fighting in an incredible setting.
